

| About the Lansing PTSO The Lansing PTSO is composed of Board Members who take on roles such as President, Vice President, Treasurer, Secretary, Membership, Webmaster and Grade Level Representatives, as well as School Faculty/Staff Representatives. We also strive to have students included on the PTSO Board. The PTSO is supported by faculty, staff and parents who pay PTSO membership fees and support the PTSO sponsored by attending, volunteering and sometimes donating goods and services. Volunteers are the backbone of the PTSO's efforts. Our objectives are to: ~ Promote the welfare of children and youth in home, school, and community. ~Foster a closer relationship between parents and teachers to enhance the education of our students. ~Unify efforts of educators and the community in order to secure the highest advantages in physical, mental and social education. So what does the PTSO really do? EVENTS The PTSO supports the Lansing Central Schools by offering Events and supporting the efforts of the schools. Yearly events include Scholastic book fairs with 10% discount for PTSO members, family roller skating, tubing, bowling, Create-A-Craft, Spaghetti Supper, and refreshments at end of year events. "Enrichment Funding" and Special Request Funding $1500 or more is offered to EACH of the three schools to be used to benefit the children of that school. $5000 or more is given to meet special requests for funding on a case-by-case basis What kind of things are covered by these funds? The PTSO was started in 1982 as the Lansing Home School Organization (HSO), a not-for-profit 501(c)(3) organization, as of 1988. In 1990, the organization continued its mission under a new name, the Lansing PTSO (Parent Teacher Student Organization), in an effort to have its name better reflect the stakeholders and beneficiaries of the organization. {The PTSO is currently investigating officially changing our name to the PTSO with the IRS.} Through the years the membership has grown from 62 members in its first full year, 135 members in its 5th year, near 200 members in its 20th year, and over 300 members in its 22-25th years (2004-2009).
