About the Lansing PTSO
The Lansing PTSO is composed of Board Members who take on roles such as President, Vice President,
Treasurer, Secretary, Membership, Webmaster and Grade Level Representatives, as well as School
Faculty/Staff Representatives.  We also strive to have students included on the PTSO Board.  The PTSO is
supported by faculty, staff and parents who pay PTSO membership fees and support the PTSO
sponsored by attending, volunteering and sometimes donating goods and services.
Volunteers are the backbone of the PTSO's efforts.

Our objectives are to:
~ Promote the welfare of children and youth in home, school, and community.
~Foster a closer relationship between parents and teachers to enhance the education of our students.
~Unify efforts of educators and the community in order to secure the highest advantages in physical,
mental and social education.

So what does the PTSO really do?

Details, Details, Details...
Although the PTSO is always evolving and changing, you can view the original PTSO Constitution and
PTSO Executive Board Member Guidelines.

The PTSO was started in 1982 as the Lansing Home School Organization (HSO), a not-for-profit 501(c)(3)
organization, as of 1988.  In 1990, the organization continued its mission under a new name, the Lansing
PTSO (Parent Teacher Student Organization), in an effort to have its name better reflect the stakeholders
and beneficiaries of the organization.  {The PTSO is currently investigating officially changing our name to
the PTSO with the IRS.}

Through the years the membership has grown from 62 members in its first full year, 135 members in its
5th year, near 200 members in its 20th year, and over 300 members in its 22-25th  years (2004-2009).
