PTSO Bowling Event 2005 Notes
Saturday, March 19, 2005 ~ 10:00-noon ~ $5 - including shoe rental.

In December, confirm that the bowling date with the bowling ally.

In April, update/prepare sign-up forms.
1) A 1/2 page form can be submitted in early April to the District Office to be included in the March
District Bulletin.  (Copy the PTSO President on the email sent to the District Office which had the form
attached.)
2) A 1/2 page or full page form should be prepared for the elementary school for distribution in
backpacks in early March.

In March, copy and distribute the Bowling sign-up forms to the elementary & middle school.
Copies can be made at the elementary school office using the Rizo (high volume copier); ask the
secretary how many are needed (and for help with coping if you are unfamiliar with the copier).
Copy
flyers and paper clip into classroom batches
for the secretary to put in teacher boxes.  Flyers should
be ready for teacher boxes 2 weeks before the event date
.  Also, make copies to put in the middle
schoo
l office and write an "Announcement" to be read for the first few days the forms are available
and the last few days before the forms are due.  {Something brief like "The PTSO Bowling Party will
be Saturday, March 19th from 10am to noon.  Sign-up forms are available in the office."}

In March after forms are distributed, check elementary and middle school mailboxes for
returned reservation forms with payment.

In 2005, bumpers were available on about 10 lanes. Bill LaRock did add more as needed.

Bus transportation from the elementary school to bowling
will not be provided, since there were only 6
bus requests in 2005.

Notes:
It would be helpful to provide directions to Helen Newman Hall and where to park.
It would be good to let people know on the application that adults can bowl (not just the kids).
It would be nice to have food. People purchased snacks from the bowling center, however, they are
not set up to do too much.
Two hours is more than enough - families were able to bowl at least 3 games with this amount of time.

In 2005, forms were sent out twice to the ES, and many were received from the second batch.

In 2005, we had 52 people and brought in $260, which we paid to Cornell. Bill asked for $300 for the
event, but stated that he would take whatever we raised up to $300. If we made more than that, PTSO
could keep it.

In 2005, only 2 MS kids attended. They announced this over the PA system, but did not distribute
forms to every student.
