past 30 days.

business which is designing the Myers Park Playground to be built in June 2010 (June 9-13), using average of
100 people over 5 days. Will be a custom project. Great support over the past few weeks. Flyers were sent home

Motion: Funding for up to $400 for
cookies & refreshments at the Feb. 11th Myers Park Playground Project Kickoff Party.- PASSED

C. Old Business:
a.  ES Book Fair, January 26-27th – Bonnie Blair - Sales of $4,500, more than last year. Overall, pulled about
$700 for library, teachers and students (approx. $71 for Buckley Bucks). Book Fair profits will all be used to
benefit the Elementary School. The teachers have been very happy, especially since teacher book money has
decreased by about 50% in the past few years. Bonnie will work with the Elementary School and Principal
Pettigrasso to help do online ordering.
b. Roller Skating, January 30th – Cathy Nelson – For the event, 44 people registered, with 9 no-shows, so 35
attended and skated. Reva charged us $5 per person, so we paid $175, and ended with a $60 profit. The event
provided 3 new memberships. Although 13 people were expected to ride the bus, and we had requested a small
bus, only 3 people rode the bus. Therefore, it is recommended that, in the future, we do not provide a bus, and
since participation was small, it is recommended that it not be offered in a year when a roller skating fundraiser at
the schools is not being held.
c. Spaghetti Supper, February 5th – Brenda Powers – Anne Miller… Varsity Cheerleaders are doing desserts.
Cathy Nelson will do table tents.  Last year served 165 people. PTSO people will help provide desserts.
d. After prom party, May 22nd – Amy Boardman – Meeting 1st Thursday of the month, meeting this Thursday,
Feb. 4th, 7pm at HS cafeteria. Sporsor a couple will be in HS mailing.
e. Scholarship report – Donna Prybyl – Margaret & Cathy meet with Donna, as well as Harriett. Committee felt
that it was important to keep voluneerism as one of the main criteria, using Facebook and other means to contact
high school students. Adding to membership form the option of student name, email and cell phone. 2nd criteria
would be to 50% that are going to college, but with 1 of the 6 scholarships selected by faculty who would look for
someone with special needs who contributes but might not be in the top 50%. 3rd criteria was PTSO
membership, but to increase pool we would reach out to 8th grade parents with special HS membership rate ($30
for 4 years instead of $40), could be at junior night with 2 year membership, and also the option for students to
“earn their way in” by volunteering twice and filling out a form. The Selection Committee should included PTSO
President, School Admin, and HS Parent Rep.

D. New Business:
a. MS Book Fair, March – Dorothy Debbie – March 23 & 24th 7:25pm – 3:00pm, open for 6-7 pm before concerts
on the 24th & 25th and will promote to families of kids in concert.
a. SCRIP report – Tricia Thomas – Will not go back to monthly orders, but will promote at beginning of year, at
Christmas and before the end of the year.
b. Promotions discussion – Amy Boardman – During meeting with Dr. Grimm, Amy asked about regs regarding
District’s ability to disseminate info. Dr. Grimm looking into going paperless and eliminating the District Bulletin.

Misc:
ES is having Literacy Night (with IC) on March 31st.
At the Spring, Buy One Get One Free ES book fair, Dorothy Debbie would like to offer teacher vouchers, so the
PTSO may decide to give money.
Cathy Nelson volunteered to help coordinate the Meet the Candidates Night (Board of Education candidates) by
contacting the League of Women Voters to arrange for a moderator and to schedule the event. The Budget vote
is May 18th,  so the likely date will be Tuesday 11th 7pm at HS Cafeteria. Mickey Grimm will help.
Note: will be difficult budget year due to changes in our tax revenue from ACS.

Next Meeting March 2nd, 2010 at 6:30pm, ES Library.
