Treasurer’s Report (Patti Dean): Checking $23,726.31; Savings $3,233.84
Patti received input on when cash boxes will be needed in next month, they include 2 for spaghetti
dinner and one for March activity night
Membership Report (Katrina Overton): 38 Lifetime, 60 Five Year, 195 Annual, 293 Total
Correspondence: CDC thank you for PTSO Gift Basket
Scrip: (Tricia Thomas) November and December good months, profit of $438
Cathy asked for an “accounting” of the year, which Tricia will provide.
President’s Report:
~ MS needed $116 more for aprons, Cathy used money out of our “MS slush fund” to support.
~ Cathy will be stepping down as President at end of school year, interested individuals should talk
with Cathy.
Cookie Dough: (Tricia Thomas) Final report, $10,230 income, $7,298 cost, net gain of $2,932
Tricia expressed concern over the amount of time to do this fundraiser
Roller Skating: (Kristen Burt) Took place January 21, 69 skaters, 40 rode the bus
Income $373 (including one new membership), Cost of event $297.50, net gain of $65.50
~ Kristen to write a thank you note to district office for supplying the bus.
Next year: reservation form to have added verbage about ok to bring own knee pads, elbow pads,
wrist guards and helmets. Next year’s date reserved: January 20, 2007
Spaghetti Dinner (Dorothy Debbie): Date set for February 3. The advertising for the event has
gone out. Carolyn Montague will include in Lansing article in Ithaca Journal. Linda Longhouse to
write an email letter to Lansing Star. Elementary school back pack flyer going home this week.
~ King Ferry Hotel – Anne Miller is bringing another staff person with her to help serve. Volunteer
needs will be determined after Dorothy reviews volunteer sign up sheet at High School. She does
need help picking up items at B&W Supply in Ithaca.
~ Dessert – the group that was going to do desserts is unable to do this. Cathy will send out an “all
alert” email if desserts are needed to be made.
Tubing (no one here to report) Date is February 11, Cathy reported that all is going well.
Legal/Tax Issues (Cathy Nelson): We have determined that we probably do need to be a 501(c)(3)
organization due to the level of gross receipts over the past few years. We may also need to
Incorporate. A first meeting has been set up with attorney Guy Krogh on Feb. 10th. Cathy to
handle this project even if it extends after her Presidential appointment.
Decison/Outcome: Motion was passed to allocate up to $5,000 for expenses for these legal/tax
issues, as seen necessary by the PTSO President.
Box Tops: We received $1,160.20 which is last year’s payment. Due date for this year is late
February, so we should receive payment before June.
5/6 Activity Night: (Tricia Thomas) March 3rd. May invite CASS to perform. All other details in place.
5th Grade PIP: All details in place for this event on March 6.
Elementary Book Fair (Lisa Farr): March 14 – 16, planning details to start soon
Middle School Book Fair (Debbie Cretney): Date was changed due to Regents testing. Feedback
from middle school was that, yes, they do want another book fair. It was decided to do a book only
fair, no additional items for sale. New date is March 21 & 22, with setup on March 20. Debbie
Cretney and Clara Barrett to train event organizers Kendall Adams and Ivy Mauser.
~Other info: Pauline Naples took over as Scholastic contact. Lucille is still the individual who comes
to school to assist with setup.
Bowling (Pat Washburn): Beth McKinney has confirmed location at Cornell for March 18. No bus
provided this year, but parking maps could be included on form. Last year 58 people attended.
Next Year Planning of Activity Nights: Middle School students will be asked their opinion of activity
nights and locations.
Next Meeting: March 6, 6pm at Middle School, PIP at 7pm {PIP will be rescheduled}
April 10 Planning Meeting, 7 – 9 pm
The PTSO Special Funding Committee met at 7:30 p.m.
The Committee drafted a memo to be distributed to all staff and employees, including faculty
advisors for student activities, which will have a Request Form on the bottom of the page to be
returned to the PTSO mailbox by March 31st. The Committee will consider all requests and present
their final recommendations at the PTSO Meeting on May 9th at 6 p.m.
