4. President's Report:
• Requests:
• ES Art – Jessica Stratton, ES Art, clarified that the $300 requested would be to frame 1 item with all the small
self-portraits from the 2006 & 2007 ES classes (similar to the tiles created in previous years).
Motion to fund up to $300 for framing 2 years worth of 4th grade small self-portraits – passed.
• Wendy Wright, ES special education, who in April requested up to $1800 to help defray costs for attending a
week-long NASA workshop as a “2008 teacher liaison through space program” has requested to speak to the
June PTSO meeting.
• The After Prom Committee plans to give every After Prom Party attendee a prize, so all students will get a bag
with stuff: Seniors get a bag with towel, beach ball, Frisbee & Juniors get bag with beach ball & Frisbee. Bags
cost about $2000 for about 250 people. Only Seniors will be eligible for the big prizes. (Prom is May 24th)
Motion: $1500 toward After Prom Party expenses for prices – passed.
• The 6th grade has requested $2400 for a fieldtrip. Kay asked them to review request and supply more info.
• PTSO Scholarship Committee. Maureen Trowbridge & Kay Thomas will be on committee.
• Shared Decision Making Teams – Applications are in; Kay is working with the district to fulfill team needs.
• PTSO positions to fill for next year – please sign up.
C. Old Business
1. MS Book Fair, March 18, 19 7:15- 3:00 p.m. – Donna Prybyl and Karen Phlegar – Numbers next meeting.
2. Changing Our Name – Cathy Nelson – Will be pursuing this after our accountant, Debbie Jordan, has more time
and will plan on having more information and direction next fall.
3. April 25th, 7th & 8th grade Activity Night, 7-9 p.m. @ HS – Maureen Trowbridge - Attendance of 80-90 kids;
reasonable for 7th and 8th grade.
4. April 29th, Employee Appreciation Day – Great food.
5. May 6th & 7th, ES Book Fair – Dorothy Debbie – 5,127.63 sales
6. May 6th – Author Luncheon – Kay Thomas and Tricia Thomas – Tricia bought Subway subs.
7. May 12th Meet the Candidates for BOE, 7:30 p.m. @ HS – Cathy Nelson
D. New Business
1. May 16th, 5th & 6th grade Activity Night, 7-9 p.m. @ the HS – June Losurdo – 1 lifeguard, more needed.
2. May 15, 3 pm, Illusions Reception in the HS cafeteria – Margaret Shackell- Dowell
3. After Prom Party, May 24th – Anne Drake – Gave money. Amy Boardman will chaperone.
4. June 2nd, ~ 5:30 p.m. – Academic Awards Refreshments – Kay Thomas
