Minutes for November 13, 2007, Elementary School Library @ 6:30 p.m.  (Approved 1/14/08)

A. Welcome and Call to Order: Kay Thomas
B. Officers Reports:
1. Secretary Report:
Dorothy Debbie/Cathy Nelson – Minutes from 10/9/07 approved.
2. Treasurer Report: Amy Anderson (Monthly Financial Report)
(Checking: $13,881.48; Savings: $3,263.20; TOTAL $25,538.87)  
{Last Nov. 2006= checking & Savings $17,144.68}
            
3. Membership Report: Katrina Overton,
Members: Lifetime: 50; Five-Year: 72; Annual: 162; Total: 284 (at par for normal)
4. President's Report:
-Meeting Schedule – Next month PTSO meeting will be changed to another date TBA (from Dec. 10th at 6:30pm ) due to a
conflict with the HS Cookies & Carols.
-District New Family Social – A few families attended. Kay is encouraging district to have it earlier in the fall (either with
orientations or in the first few weeks of school) and possibly earlier in the evening, but the district makes the final
determination. Comments by those who were new to the district recently felt that important features include having
administrators attend and possibly have information available (like Lansing Rec., LTAPA, etc.).
-Thank Yous – Thanks from Mrs. McHugh for the MS Library Camcorder; from Cathy Moseley for sponsoring a HS student
attending a newspaper course over the summer; from 2nd Grade Team for being allowed to order 30 Rhyming Dictionaries
through Scholastic Vouchers.
-Requests:
-ES: Leaf Project – Request from Sue Henne for funding for the supplies for the annual Leaf Printing Project with the cost of
pillows at $328.
-MS: Camcorder Request from Mrs. McHugh, MS Librarian – More info was sent via email (it is used by faculty and staff for
many things, including taping skits, virtual field trips, teachers in classrooms for self improvement or certification, special
events, guest speakers, and maybe even live conferencing; this model records right to DVD to ease data transfers ) & email
vote was taken:
Email Motion: To spend up to $460 towards MS Camcorder - PASSED (spent $____)
-HS: Africian Dancer funding request from HS – More info was sent via email  
Email Motion: To spend $300 to help fund them
– PASSED.
          
C. Old Business
1. Merchandise Report
- Kristen Burt – Kay reports that Kristen is preparing a large order to arrive before Christmas; forms
are being distributed via backpacks and report cards.
2. Scrip Report – Tricia Thomas – Script orders continue to come in fairly regularly; a new form will be in sent in backpacks
and in report cards.
3. BOE Appreciation Dinner, Oct. 15th – Kay Thomas – Anne Miller of King Ferry Hotel served pork roast, broccoli, apple pie
for total of $160 ($16 per person).
4. MS Activity Night, Nov. 2nd  - June Losurdo – Kay reported it went well and the kids were well behaved. About 140 attended
(compared to previous 160). Next Activity Night isn’t until March due to lack of available facilities.
5. Thanksgiving Feast, Nov. 16th – Kay Thomas – There are still available work slots.  They plan to try a new disposable tray
(the third type they’ve tried) if they arrive in time.
6.Create A Craft, Dec. 1st  - Amy Boardman – (not attending) A signup sheet to help was sent around.  Also could use HS
students to help.

D. New Business
1. Chef- Co. Cookie Dough Sale
– Anne Drake – Forms are due Friday. This is our biggest fund raiser.  There was discussion
about if the products still have trans-fats.
2. Cherrydale Distribution, Nov. 14  - The most help is needed 2:15-3pm when 2 can help, but also need people from 3-5pm.

E. MISC
-ES Shared Decision Making Team will be inviting families to Everyday Math Parent Nights in Jan. and Feb. in the evening,
with parents asked to volunteer to teach and run a game station. There will be refreshments served.
-Spaghetti Dinner – How can we reach MS & HS student?  They could be included in 5 week reports, which is right before the
holiday break, so may distribute half-sheets via homebases at the MS.

The PTSO offers you many opportunities to become involved.  We welcome your input and support.
