A. Welcome and Call to Order: Amy Boardman, president
B. Officers’ Reports:
 a. Secretary Report: Cathy Nelson – Minutes for 11/3/09 passed with corrections.
 
b. Membership Report: Margaret Shackell-Dowell – The Membership database was created in Access
by a Cornell student and it was helpful to get names of people to work at the Thanksgiving Feast and H1N1
vaccination day. The program will allow info on students to change each year as the move up.
Motion:
Pending okay by PTSO accountant, up to $350 will be used to compensate an outside source for
his work – Passed.
 c. Treasurer Report: Amy Anderson – (not attending; will be provided via email)

d. President’s Report: Amy Boardman
        i.  Funding requests – Wendy Wright, Peace and Cultures Club (new for 3rd & 4th Grade; 10 week
club) for 10 copies, one for each member, of the book Listen to the Wind by Greg Mortenson, about
Penn
ies for Peace at a cost of $11.55 per book, for a total of $115.5. After discussion, Dorothy Debbie will
investigate if books are available through Scholastic.  
Motion: To purchase 4 books (for ES & MS
libraries, club, and for Wendy Wright) or up to $50. – Passed.
        ii. Parent University recap – Amy Boardman reported that the presentation was great. She noted that
they cited that 90% HS students know a student with drug or alcohol problems. Inhalants are a problem and
the PTSO has decided that, considering that problem, will no longer display scented markers. There were
about 50 people in attendance.
       iii. Misc: PTSO helped get helpers for the H1N1 vaccination day; we had 2 at the ES & 3 at the MS
help
ing. Over 500 shots were given and things ran very smoothly.
                 Thanks from CDC for PTSO’s auction item.
                 Thanks for LeAnn Sinclair for books that the PTSO donated to her.
C. Old Business:
 a. ES Picture Day/Yearbooks – Brenda Powers – At the ES, yearbook orders will be separate from school
pictures again this year and will continue in future years.  The school has informally asked PTSO to cover
the cost of 100 ES yearbooks for needy students. Cathy Nelson will check if PTSO has ever help
ed fund ES
yearbooks to needy students. Jamie Thomas, MS Principal, noted that only about 15 yearbooks and photos
are “comped” for needy student. Brenda will check for more details and a formal request will be needed.
  b. MS Activity Night 5th/6th – Betsy Galvin, Gail Dennis – Betsy Galvin reported via email that there were
fewer parent volunteers, fewer students, and a few CASS members.
        i. November 20th, 7-9pm, HS
 c. Thanksgiving Feast – Tonya Reynolds, June Losurdo – Amy Boardman reported that
the feast wen well.
        i. November 20th, ES – 55-60 parent volunteers during the two days. Things ran smoothly, but there
may be ways to improve things even more. Margaret reported that merchandise sales were good (about
$1500) and Tricia Thomas said Scrip sales were good too. Brenda suggested that PTSO set up
merchandise at football games since Boosters isn’t really selling anything anymore.
 d. Create-A-Craft – Susan Wakshlag, Amy Boardman – Amy Boardman reported that it was well attended.
Bake Sale brought in $115. Craft stuff brought in $190. Scrip brought in $200.
 e. High School Scholarship discussion – Donna Prybyl – Tabled to next meeting.
D. New Business:
 a. Scrip status – Tricia Thomas – Tops is no longer taking Scrip Gift Cards, but any cards can be
exchanged at Customer Service for Tops cards.  Another order is going in soon for distribution before the
Holidays. The next order after the holidays will be in the spring.
 b. Winter fundraiser – Anne Drake, Walker Reynolds – (Not attending) Tabled to next meeting.
 c. Winter Fest – Amy Boardman – Amy discussed the idea.
E: Misc.
 a. Brenda brought up Mentor Program that was brought up by Meliane Dreyer-Lude. Brenda will draft a
letter to be included in Welcome Packet. The 411 on the School/Community on the PTSO Website.
